We have been SO BUSY that I have not even had time to sit down and blog....that was the whole reason for this website! Oh well...I will give a short synopsis of what we have done. :)
FIrst off, Bogota is beautiful...there is so mucht to see here and although Colombia is very different from the U.S., in a lot of ways, it is the same. Things here are beautiful because of the history behind them and alot of the most beautiful things to see here are the oldest. I was telling Carlos today that life seems to be lived much simpler here...from what people eat to how they get around the city...its amazing to me! We have visited the Salt Cathedral, the Museum of Gold, Monserrate, Bottero ARt exhibit, local places to eat and shop. Each place was magical and we have plenty of pictures to share if you check out one of our FaceBook pages. We also traveled to Cucuta to visit Carlos' grandma. Cucuta has a very tropical climate (very different from Bogota which is about 65 everyday) and most people have no air conditioning...including Wilita (Grandma)! We really enjoyed ourselved for the 5 days we were there. Carlos' family was so accomodating and we even met some fantastic people who we partied with...they were friends of Carlos' cousin, Juan. This is how small of a world it is: while sitting in the airport to go from Bogota to Cucuta, we met another American named Aaron. He was going to visit someone in Cucuta as an exchange type thing. So we get to Cucuta and guess what? THe friend Aaron was going to visit was one of Juan's (Carlos' cousin) friends! AND Aaron was from Austin!! Craziness. Now we are back in Bogota to enjoy the rest of the stay here in Colombia. I got all my dental work done by Carlos' aunt and her co-worker...honestly I am so GRATEFUL for what they did for me...they saved me THOUSANDS of dollars and gave me the truth and just took care of me! Again...so so grateful! As soon as we get back to the states, we will post more pictures on FaceBook and give descriptions of all the wonderful places we visited. We get back the 14th into Houston late at night...and probably not in Austin until the morning of the 15th. Altough I will be sad for the vacation to end, I will definitely be ready for my own bed, my HOME (I really miss my house), and to see the cats!!
